Domaine Hauvette Rouge 2002Red WineSt Rémy de Provence, AOC Les Baux de Provence50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 20% Cabernet-SauvignonRatings / Reviews: - The red and white Hauvette wines are considered among the top wines of Provence and are served in many of the two and three star Michelin rated restaurants in France.
- Eric Asimov, Tastings, Unexpected Reds of Provence, NY Times, 8/9/01:
“Just the idea of Provence can be refreshing, with its whitewashed walls, seaside breezes and pale blue skies. As for wines, Provence suggests rosés most of all. So imagine the surprise when you start pouring red wine, and pretty good red wine at that. . . . Many of the reds are reminiscent of southern Rhones, and with good reason since they use the same range of grapes, like mourvèdre, grenache, cinsault and syrah, but increasingly cabernet-sauvignon is joining the mix.” The author lists Domaine Hauvette Rouge 1997 as one of the preferred wines.
