Located in Le Luc in the heart of Côtes de Provence, the Domaine La Bernarde has been producing wine since the middle of the 18th Century. The Domaine consists of 85 hectares of adjoining land and dominates the plain of Le Luc at an average altitude of 250 meters. The entire vineyard is planted on South facing slopes.
Climate, Soil and Vineyard.
Protected by five surrounding hills, La Bernarde enjoys a dry and sunny microclimate with temperature drops between day and night. The vineyard has a surface of 35 hectares. The deep ancient soil was formed by a mass of fallen earth consisting of gravel and stones. The gravel is made predominantly of limestone and covers the total surface of the higher slopes. The average age of the vines is 35 years and oldest vines date back to 1913. The average production is 1650 hectoliters.
Harvest and Vinification
Grapes are manually picked and carefully sorted. Vinification takes place in stainless steel and enamel tanks and the wines are bottle-aged in a temperature controlled underground cellar.
