Clos Saint-Joseph (Cotes de Provence)

  • History and Geography.

Situated in the Villars-sur-Var hillsides 43 kilometers outside of Nice, Clos Saint-Joseph is the only vineyard in this area that is A.O.C. Cotes de Provence.
  • Vineyard and Climate.

Clos Saint-Joseph is a micro-terroir consisting of four hectares which have been cultivated for more than 60 years.  The soil consists primarily of limestone covered with stones that absorb the warmth of the sun in the day time and release the sun’s energy at night.  The wines are made using modern methods and are aged in new oak barrels.  The red is made from a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mouvèdre grapes, and the white is made from a blend of Ugni-blanc, Clairette, Sémillon abd Rolle.  Production of these “Pays Nicois” wines is extremely limited.
